As prices rise, salaries stay the same and the average millennial gets told off for buying avocado toast, canceling an unused subscription is one way to cut costs. Amazon Music, once a fan favorite, has made the hitlist for a litany of issues, including poor UX, bugs and an infamous permanent shuffle mode.
If you’re a technologically challenged Spotify (Apple Music, YouTube Music, what have you) convert like me looking for tried-and-proven tips on how to cancel Amazon Music, we’ve got you covered.
In this article, I will personally try to cancel my Amazon Music Unlimited subscription using the resources available on the World Wide Web. How hard could it be? Let the games begin!
Note: This article specifically covers how to cancel Amazon Music Unlimited. To cancel Amazon Music, you’ll need to cancel your Prime membership.
How To Cancel Amazon Music Unlimited
Web Browser
To start our journey toward getting Amazon Music #canceled, I settled on using a web browser. Basic and ubiquitous, it seemed the perfect place to begin. Here are the steps I followed:
- Log in to your Amazon Music account (I add the caveat that googling “login to your Amazon Music account” takes you to the artist Login).
- Select Your Amazon Music Settings.
You’ll be redirected to the main Amazon website.
- Click Manage your Prime membership.
Note: I hit my first speed bump here. Apparently, I subscribed to Amazon Music via a third party (read about how you can cancel in that situation below). But, a quality investigative journalist never gives up! I harangued every friend and family member until I found someone who would both subscribe to and cancel Amazon Music. Steps continue below:
- Scroll down and click on Cancel subscription below your Subscription Renewal details.
- Another screen will pop-up. Click Continue to cancel.
- Yet another screen will appear (but stay calm). Select Confirm cancellation.
Ta-da! You’ve done it!
Android
Unfortunately, it was tougher to find a friend with an Android than it was to get through undergrad. I had to resort to the depths of Reddit to find a solution for this one. Cancel your subscription on Android via the Amazon Music app using the following steps:
- Open the Amazon Music app.
- Click on the Settings icon at the top right corner.
- Press on Amazon Unlimited.
- Go down to Subscription Renewal and tap Cancel Subscription.
- Select Submit and Confirm Cancellation when the dialog box pops up.
iPhone or iPad
Like an overdone steak, canceling Amazon subscriptions on iOS is extra tough. Unfortunately, I discovered you can’t cancel via the Amazon Music app. In fact, the app offers zero clickable links to take you to the browser (outrageous, I know). Use the following steps to cancel on your iPad or iPhone:
- Open Safari or Chrome and type in Amazon.com.
- Log in to your account.
- Click on the person icon next to your name.
- Select See All next to Your Account.
- Scroll down to Your Memberships & Subscriptions.
- Scroll past your current plans to Cancel Subscription below Subscription Renewal.
- Select Confirm Cancellation
Voila! You’ve canceled your subscription!
iTunes
Managing subscriptions on iTunes has become a bit of a lost art. Some digging into Apple’s discussion threads led me to the conclusion that it’s easiest to try via the App Store on your Mac. Here’s how it’s done:
- Open the App Store.
- Select your Name or Sign In.
- Click Account Settings.
- Scroll down to Subscriptions and select Manage.
- Click Edit next to Amazon Music Unlimited.
- Click Cancel Subscription.
If you don’t have a Macbook, cancel via iTunes for Windows using the steps below:
- Open iTunes.
- Click the menu bar at the top of the window.
- Select Account and click View My Account.
- Scroll down to Settings and select Manage next to Subscriptions.
- Tap on Edit beside Amazon Music Unlimited.
- Select Cancel Subscription.
Note: According to Apple Support, if you can’t find the Cancel Subscription button the subscription is already canceled.

Yes, you may lose access to your purchased music if you cancel your Amazon Music Unlimited subscription. Theoretically, you should still be able to access your music if you retain your complimentary Amazon Music account. However, you may lose some music due to differences in usage rights.
If Amazon says you’ve subscribed via a third-party service, you will need to find out which service you used to cancel your Amazon Music subscription. If you’re unsure who you opened the original subscription with, try the following hacks:
- Check your bank or card statement to see who is receiving the payment. Then, contact their customer service directly.
- Recall if you’ve signed up for a promotion via your phone or internet provider. Sometimes services offer a few months free and then charge after that. Reach out to your provider, if that’s the case.
You cannot cancel your Amazon Music Unlimited subscription using Alexa. Any queries on canceling your subscription will direct you to the Amazon site or the Amazon Music app.
If you’re still subscribed to Amazon Music Unlimited, but your music is grayed out, there are a few possible explanations:
- The licensing for that album or artist may have run out.
- Different regions have different content.
- You’re experiencing a glitch. Clear cache in the setting or try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
